This top quality pricking jig makes the perfect tool for punching. Sometimes referred to as pricking jig. Used for adding holes in the centrefold of book pages (also called signatures).
Designed for Versatility
Offered in two versions: a normal size and an extended version which fits our nipping binding press.
The normal version is supplied with our hole punching cradle. You can use this jig if you want to make your own cradle or as an upgrade to an existing one.
The extended version can be used as a standard punching or pricking jig. Additionally it can be used to clamp book edges for fore edge painting. This is the practice of painting images on the edge of the pages. Wikipedia has a good article that explains how this is done Here.
Fan out the pages then clamp. Use one side of our nipping press for this. Once clamped it’s easy to paint your image on the fanned out pages.
Made from quality birch plywood for strength and stability. The hole spacing is 15mm and the overall length makes the jig great for any book up to A4 size.
Our computer controlled machinery does the roughing out manufacturing. We then sand smooth and hand finish with two coats of sprayed top quality varnish.
The result is a lovely finish.
Designed and manufactured to give years of service.
A tool to feel justifiably proud of.
Spacing of the nineteen holes is 15mm apart. The overall length is 300mm ( 12 Inch) . It’s approximately 35mm ( 1 and 3/8 Inch) and 18mm (3/4 Inch) high.
The extended version has the same width and height as the standard jig but is longer at 380mm (15 Inch) and has holes that match the holes in our nipping press.
